After several months of planning, Gofest kicked-of as scheduled on the 19th March 2008 at the Redemption Camp ground Km 47 Lagos-Ibadan express way.

The conference which was organized by the youths and students commission under the auspices of the Nigeria evangelical Missions Association (NEMA), hosted youths who came from with in and out side the country, most of which are students from the Nigerian tertiary institutions and church Youth Fellowships representing all the geo-political regions of the Nigeria.

Gofest’08 like the previous ones, (Gofest88, 98,04) which always had something unique that distinguishes it from other events, wasn’t left out as it came with its pack of spiciness that fed the participants to their full

Lots of events like the morning cry, a moment were participants wake in the early hours of the morning to have a brief time with the lord, after which they get exposed to the globe by some group of persons to come to terms with the happening round it, so as to personally engage the Lord in a discussion that (that will) last for 30minutes on behalf of these nations in the global prayer moments.

Day 1

The Chairman of Nigeria Evangelical Missions Association (NEMA), Bro Gabriel Barau and the Planning committee Chairman -Pastor Julius Iroha welcomed the students to GOFEST 08. The one commemorating the 20th anniversary of the of the establishment of the conference.

The day started with passionate charge by the Executive secretary of NEMA, Tomothy Olonade from the book of  Luke. He encouraged the youths to passionately look at the lamb.

Day 2

WHEN GOD SAYS LOOK

Dr Ferdinand Nweke in his plenary talk, charged the participants on the importance of their eye (vision) in the purpose of eternity, saying that “no one can seek what he has not seen”, and that ones journey in God is limited by his revelation of Him, but a man who has his eyes open by God to see what He is saying Never remains the same hence bringing hope to his generation.

Laying his claim from the bible in the first book of Kings 6:12 narrating how the king of Syria gathered his subject demanding that the traitor of the kingdom be exposed so he can be properly punished, but was told to his amazement about a prophet in the enemy’s camp who knows and reveals every secret plan the king makes to his own king even to the pillow talk in his bedroom. Buttressing how impossible it is for someone who sees God’s advert to remain the same.

Still in his speech, the participants were made to see that “when God says Look” to a man, he is basically “seeking the attention of the eyes” to behold certain things out of which he mentioned four (4)

  • Possibilities
  • His Perspectives
  • What he is doing in a life and through a life and
  • The most Important of all The vision of Him (God)

In his closing challenge he urged the youths to ask the founding fathers what they’ve seen that has helped them set a good pace (for the Youths) and also kept them in the faith, for the eyes he said is the limit for the direction in which one would always like to take. He then lead them to pray asking the Lord to open their eyes, and help them lift it up to see His purpose for there life, his agenda for their generation and above all his priorities so that they don’t lead a blind life.
